I’ve got two great giveaways going on this week to wrap up my Bloodstone blog tour.
At Paranormal Haven, you can read about trick-or-treat night in my neighborhood (it’s the biggest night of the year!) and enter to win a signed book and this “wicked” mug filled with candy. This giveaway is international!
At The Bookish Brunette, I’m part of Team Zombie in the Trick or Treat for Books event, so I had to share my favorite tips for avoiding a zombie attack while trick-or-treating. The giveaway there (U.S. only) is for a signed book and a bottle of glittery, green-and-gold Zombie Zest nail polish.
Treats with no tricks–what better way to celebrate Halloween? See you there!
Today I’ll be in Albany, NY to help with the LASTSFA (that’s the Latham-Albany-Schenectady-Troy Science Fiction Association) writers workshop. I’ll be facilitating workshops on “Ancient Mythology and Contemporary Fantasy” and “Show, Don’t Tell: Using the Emotional Filter.” I’ll also be participating in two panel discussions: “Publishing: What Is Right for Me?” and “A Reader’s Responsibility: How to Keep Your Favorite Authors on the Shelves.” The all-day workshop runs from 10 to 4 at the Best Western Sovereign Hotel on Western Avenue in Albany and costs $40 (includes a High Tea) at the door.
If you can’t make it to Albany, you can still enter my giveaway at Romancing the Book. The prize is a bloodstone pendant (like the one Aunt Mab wears in Bloodstone) and a signed copy of the book. It’s open internationally, so everyone can enter. Entry details here.
I had a fun and wide-ranging conversation with Kelli McCracken and Amber Scott of ParaYourNormal on Blog Talk Radio this evening. We talked about Bloodstone and my Deadtown series, of course. The conversation also touched upon outlining (yes, no, or in between), getting rid of writer’s block, and why writers might want to add an opera aria or two to their writing playlist. (No, I didn’t sing.)
If you missed the interview and would like to give it a listen (it’s half an hour), click here.
I haven’t seen it in the wild yet, but Bloodstone has been released into the world! I hope the gorgeous cover will catch people’s attention.
I’ve been so busy that I didn’t see RT’s review of Bloodstone until a couple of days ago. When I did see it, I did the happy dance, right there in the magazine section of Barnes & Noble. RT gave Bloodstone 4.5 stars and had this to say:
An ancient feud and a serial killer give demon slayer Victory Vaughn more than a little trouble in the third installment of Holzner’s vivid and butt-kicking Deadtown series. Holzner uses Welsh mythology and an intriguing twist on vampires to place Vicky and her friends smack in the middle of a very nasty mess. Make sure you reserve a place for Holzner’s novels on your bookshelf.
Two stops on the blog tour today:
Tina interviews Vicky about demonslaying as part of a school project on careers for the Previously Deceased at Urban Girl Reader
You can take a walking tour of Deadtown by night at Book Lover’s Hideaway
I’m doing giveaways galore over the next month, so follow my tour for all kinds of chances to win!
I was thinking this morning how lucky I am to be able to write these novels, and how there wouldn’t be a Deadtown series if it weren’t the readers who give my books a try. I really appreciate the fact that people buy and read my books.
Thank you so much for your support!
Bloodstone releases tomorrow, and my blog tour kicks off today. Roxanne at Fangtastic Books and Abigail at All Things Urban Fantasy are helping me get the party started with prerelease giveaways at their blogs:
An interview and chance to win a bloodstone pendant at Fangtastic Books
A post from Vicky’s vampire roommate Juliet, setting the record straight about what really happened with Romeo, along with a chance to win a bloodstone-and-silver bracelet at All Things Urban Fantasy
Stop by, say hello, and help me celebrate. And while you’re there, enter to win!
